BELVEDERE, Marin County — November 4, 2026. Two council seats were up for election in Belvedere, where the initial county tally listed Jane Cooper and Peter Mark as the named candidates receiving votes. The returns are preliminary and do not reflect the completed canvass.
The reported tally
KQED’s results for the November 3 election, updated at 11:13 p.m., showed Jane Cooper with 446 reported selections (53.4%) and Peter Mark with 389 (46.5%). The separation of 57 selections is not itself an indication of a race for only one remaining seat: the reporting lists two positions.
Local government and representation
City Council representatives in Belvedere address municipal services, planning, waterfront and lagoon-related infrastructure, public facilities and financial decisions. The election is local to the city’s residents and distinct from nearby Tiburon’s three-seat town council contest.
When are the results final?
The Marin County Elections Department will publish updates as more valid ballots are processed. Election-night percentages are only a snapshot; official certification comes after the county finishes its canvass.
